Sewer Information

Sacramento Area Sewer District

The Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD) provide sewer services for Citrus Heights residents including wastewater collection from homes and businesses. The sewer systems in the public right-of-way or within easements are owned and maintained by the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (SRCSD). SRCSD oversees the maintenance, construction and operation of the larger pipelines, as well as wastewater treatment. Sewer problems can be reported to SASD by calling 916-875-6730 and potentially avoided by following these maintenance tips.

Sewer Problems

If you have sewer problems, always call the SASD first at 916-875-6730. As an SASD customer, you pay a monthly utility fee for sewer services and SASD will try to help you first by checking their sewer pipelines for problems. SASD's dedicated maintenance and operations staff work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to reduce sewage backups, overflows and loss of service for SASD customers.

Customer vs. District Responsibility

The most common questions from residents concern difficulties in maintaining sewer flows from their homes. If you have a question about where SASD's responsibilities end and your responsibilities begin, visit the customer vs. district responsibility page to download a diagram and access more information.
