Underground Utility District:

At the October 13, 2022 City Council Meeting, the City Council approved to amend the municipal code to include an ordinance that authorizes the City Council to establish underground utility districts. An underground utility district is a geographic area within which overhead utilities are required to be installed underground and utility poles removed. The establishment of an Auburn Boulevard Underground Utility District was presented and approved at the October 27, 2022 City Council Meeting. Impacted utility companies will be required to remove all overhead wires and utility poles within the District once the new underground utilities are operational. This undergrounding of utilities is in harmony with both the Boulevard Plan and the City's General Plan to achieve attractive, inviting, and functional corridors.
