Become a Neighborhood Champion!

What is a Neighborhood Champion?

The City of Citrus Heights has initiated a community-based process to improve multi modal safety in the city's neighborhoods. The program includes improving the way residents can request traffic control and traffic calming devices in their neighborhoods and promotes efforts by citizens to raise safety awareness. Neighborhood Champions play an important role in developing the program including:

  • Communicating the program goals and progress to their neighbors and soliciting participation in the program's community-based activities
  • Attending training and leading "WALKshops" with residents to highlight safety issues and safety improvements
  • Testing out and providing feedback related to materials and strategies within the neighborhood "tool box"
  • Modeling safe biking, walking, rolling, and driving behaviors in the community
