How to Report a Crime

Reporting an Emergency

If you have an emergency or need to report a crime in progress, please dial 911. From a cell phone, dial 916-726-3015 to reach the CHPD emergency line directly. When the dispatcher answers, remain calm and provide as much detail as possible.

Reporting a Non-Emergency

For non-emergencies, there are three options available to report a crime.

  • Citizens with a computer and internet access can utilize our online crime reporting system. Using this online citizen police report system allows you to submit a report immediately and print a copy of the police report for free.
  • Citizens can call the department 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 916-727-5500. Citizens can have an officer dispatched to their current location or may prefer to report the crime over the telephone.
  • Citizens can also come into the lobby at:
    Citrus Heights Police Department
    6315 Fountain Square Drive
    Citrus Heights, CA 95621

Reporting in Person or On the Phone

The lobby is open Monday - Friday, 9 AM. to 5 PM, excluding holidays, to report a crime in person. You may also report a crime by calling our crime tip line at 916-727-5524. When reporting crimes of stolen property, it is helpful to gather details about the missing items, such as make, model, serial numbers, or identifying marks. For identity theft, have credit card account information available.
