Resident Satisfaction Survey

About the Survey

Since shortly after incorporation 20 years ago, the City of Citrus Heights has conducted periodic surveys using a professional survey company in order to assess residents' perceptions regarding:

  • City and resident communication
  • City satisfaction
  • Quality of life
  • Safety
  • Sense of community

2017 Survey

Completion of community surveys help the City Council and staff to focus on areas of interest and provide a sense of understanding as to what the community wants. This year's survey of over 770 randomly selected residents was compared to the 2012 survey in order to learn about any changes in perceptions or opinions of our community members.

The 2017 Resident Satisfaction Survey found that overall, 87% of residents surveyed feel optimistic about the direction of the city. A vast majority of residents surveyed believe the city does a good job managing its budget and are content with the city's current level of taxes and services provided .

However, about half of the residents surveyed feel that they have to leave Citrus Heights in order to have access to shops, restaurants, and services. While most community members feel safe in Citrus Heights, crime is still the top issue both as an independent priority and when compared to other issues. These issues are a top priority for the City Council members and the city staff. The city will use these results to help understand where they can make improvements and further meet the needs of the residents to enhance their satisfaction levels.
