Trees, Brush & Weed Abatement

Request Tree, Brush & Weed Services

The City of Citrus Heights encompasses approximately 14 square miles. The City is responsible for maintaining open areas, landscape districts and all landscaped medians throughout the city. Through several private contractors, the City provides tree maintenance and brush and weed abatement services for areas within the public right-of-ways. Weed abatement is performed seasonally and specifically during the spring growing cycle. Materials used are selected on the basis of overall long-term application control, sustainability and effectiveness. As part of an ongoing plan to use sustainable and organic products, the City uses non-toxic, environmentally safe products that leave no lasting soil residue. Applications are performed on clear, calm, sunny days during normal business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM).

The City performs tree maintenance work in various right of way locations throughout the year to enhance the line of sight for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists. Palm trees are pruned every three to five years depending on the weight of the skirt (dried palm fronds) and the overall amount of new growth, which varies depending on the amount of rain received over the winter.

To report a downed or damaged tree, or a weed or brush problem, please use SeeClickFix to report a problem or concern online. If you have any questions, please contact the General Services Department at 916-727-4770 or by email.
