Household Hazardous Waste

Whether it's old paint cans sitting in the garage or expired pesticides in the shed, residents can now easily get rid of these items in a responsible manner. Knowing that they can drop off these materials at designated locations without any extra cost should encourage more people to take action and properly dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste. This initiative is a positive step towards a cleaner and healthier Citrus Heights.

Dispose of your Household Hazardous Waste by visiting either:

North Area Recovery Station

4450 Roseville Rd, North Highlands

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Kiefer Landfill

12701 Kiefer Blvd and Grant Line Rd, Sloughhouse

Tuesday Through Saturday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Please note that both facilities are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Medical Sharps Disposal

Residential customers can reach out to Republic Services (916) 725-9060 to schedule a convenient appointment for the collection of your medical sharps. Sharp objects consist of hypodermic needles, pen needles, IV needles, and lancets.

Recycling-Oil-Filter

Used Oil and Oil Filters

It's important to properly dispose of any used motor oil and oil filters. The motor oil should be poured into a plain co-poly container with a screw-on lid and labeled as motor oil provided by Republic Services (916) 725-9060. As for the oil filters, they should be placed in a six-milliliter clear bag with a double track seal (zip lock) for disposal.

It's important to properly dispose of oil from your kitchen as well. Transfer the oil into a sealable container like a butter tub or jar with a lid, then place it in a plastic bag to avoid leaks. Finally, dispose of the container in your garbage cart or at the North Area Recovery Station.
