Purpose of Inspections

During the construction of your project, on-site inspections will be conducted to ensure that approved materials are properly used and the work is performed according to the approved job plans.

Any work or materials that are not up to code will need to be corrected and re-inspected. The inspections are for the owners and/or occupant’s health and safety, as well to protect investments.

Scheduling an Inspection

Inspection request can be made utilizing the inspection request line (916-727-4750) or the Citizen Access Portal. Building inspection requests received by 4 p.m. on a business day can be scheduled for the next business day. Inspection requests received after 4 p.m. will be scheduled for the 2nd business day or other day of your choice. Inspections can be requested for AM or PM.

Every effort is made to accommodate each request, but sometimes the schedule will be altered according to the staff work load.

Submitting a Request

On the inspection request line, please be prepared to leave the following information:

• Your name
• Permit number
• Address of job
• Type of inspection requested
• Requested date for inspection
• Time preference: morning or afternoon
