Service Rates

Citrus Heights residents are offered three carts by Republic Services: a garbage cart, a recycling cart, and an organic waste cart. The size of the garbage cart, which can be 32-gallon, 64-gallon, or 96-gallon, determines the fees for residents. While the standard size for organic waste and recycling carts is 96 gallons, residents have the option to request smaller carts. However, this will not affect the fees charged by Republic Services.

Garbage Collection Service is Mandatory

To maintain public health and safety and improve the overall community, the City of Citrus Heights has implemented a mandatory garbage collection service for all residential and commercial properties. This requirement aligns with similar ordinances found in cities and counties nationwide. (Sec. 74-39. Solid Waste Removal - Municipal Code)

Exemptions

Property owners can apply for a temporary exemption of garbage and recycling service due to an extended absence from the residence. Exemptions will not be granted for rental properties or properties that are for sale.
