[ARCHIVED] Homicide – Burich Avenue

Community Update

On August 26th, 2023, at approximately 9:30 pm, Citrus Heights Police responded to the reports of a disturbance inside an apartment located in the 6200 block of Burich Avenue. One witness reported hearing the sound of gunshots. 

Officers arrived and located an adult female inside the apartment with gunshot wound injuries. An adult male was also located inside the apartment with life-threatening injuries. Officers and paramedics provided life-sustaining medical aid. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene due to her injuries. The male was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and is being treated. 

The deceased's identity is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin. 

Citrus Heights Detectives responded and began a homicide investigation to include interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence. Citrus Heights Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) arrived and also collected multiple pieces of evidence. 

Based on the investigation, we know this tragic event was between two individuals in a dating relationship. There are no additional threats of danger to the community, and the suspect is in police custody.
